How to protect yourself from scams

With digitalisation come new ways of banking. But at the same time, different types of scams become increasingly sophisticated. Scammers may try to trick you into giving them your personal details, online access codes or card PIN and details.

To avoid being scammed, keep these tips in mind:

1. Your online access codes are intended for your personal use only

Your online access codes, passwords and card PIN are intended for your personal use only. You should never give them to anyone else even if the request appears to come from a trusted source. Nordea Finance will never contact you to ask for these details by SMS or email.

2. We will always use a secure connection and strong authentication

Nordea Finance or any other official organisation will not contact you without using a secure connection or requiring you to authenticate your identity. We will never ask about your finances on social media, by SMS or via unencrypted email.

3. If you are unsure, don’t proceed

As with many other things, you should be careful not to reply to any requests in a hurry – this also goes for requests related to your finances If a call or message seems suspicious to you, hang up or ignore the message. If you’re not sure whether a payment request is genuine, check with the recipient first. If you get a suspicious message from an official organisation, contact their customer service to verify if it’s genuine. Don’t click on any links in emails or messages. Always type nordeafinance.fi in the address bar of your browser when you want to log in to our services.

Text message reminding you of an overdue invoice

As a new service for our customers, we will automatically send a text message reminder of their overdue invoices. The reminder is sent after three banking days have passed from the due date of the invoice and the payment does not yet show on our account.

If you have already paid the invoice and your payment is on the way, you are not required to do anything (the automatic text message is free of charge). You can check from your account transactions when you have paid the invoice.

If you prefer not to receive automatic text messages regarding your overdue invoices, you can call Nordea Finance Customer Service or send a message via  Nordea Omaposti. You can log in to Omaposti with your own bank’s online banking codes or with the Mobile ID. As a Nordea customer, you can also send a message in Nordea Netbank and Nordea Mobile.
